This lunch series provides staff members the opportunity to enjoy a hosted lunch and engage in casual conversation with various UCI leaders on a monthly basis.
In the role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives, Carol Jun oversees and advances strategic priorities in areas that span the arts, research and athletics. Currently, her priority is the new UCI Museum and Institute for California Art which recently received the Irvine Museum Collection of California Impressionist paintings from 1890 to 1940 and the Buck Collection of California art. Plans for a new museum building on campus are currently under development to house both the museum and the institute which will offer graduate programs, community outreach and research collaborations with academic units. Carol will be responsible for overseeing these developments and staffing both units. In addition to these strategic initiatives, Carol provides operational leadership for the shared Executive Business Office that supports both the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Provost. Carol assumed this role in February 2017. Carol has devoted most of her career to higher education, with 21 years at UC Irvine and four years at Boston University. She holds dual degrees from UC San Diego and completed graduate coursework at Boston University.
