The Staff Appreciation Picnic strives to be a Zero Waste event so we encourage everyone to bring their own reusable plates, utensils, and beverage containers. Landfill, composting, and recycling bins will be available in Aldrich Park. Ask a ‘Trash Talker’ for help with separating trash into appropriate bins. Water fill-up stations and a supply of recyclable plates, utensils, etc. will also be available.
DEPARTMENT COMPETITION
“The Most Gnarly Department” will be selected by a small panel of judges. Departments may decorate their area of the picnic with fun things related to the “A 1980s Dance Party” theme. Decorations do not have to be limited to just the tables at the picnic. Props may be used, but please avoid the use of latex balloons.
INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION
“The Most Awesome or Radical” individual will be selected by audience applause. Staff members may dress like characters from the 1980s that might be considered ‘rad’ or ‘awesome’ by their co-workers.
SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION
From UCI Research Park: Shuttles will begin running at 10:40am and run every 20 minutes between 100 Theory in UCI Research Park and the Aldrich Loop/Flag Poles. The last pick-up time from the Aldrich Loop/Flag Poles for a return to 100 Theory is 2:00pm.

The Staff Appreciation Picnic is an annual event hosted by Staff Assembly, a council dedicated to supporting and developing activities serving staff at UCI. The picnic is planned and led entirely by volunteer staff who donate their time to make it a memorable experience.
