Lunch with Leadership has gone virtual! This event provides staff members the opportunity to engage in casual conversation with various UCI leaders. Join us for a virtual lunch featuring Dr. Douglas Haynes, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Bio: Douglas Haynes is the inaugural vice chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, UCI’s chief diversity officer and Professor of History.
Dr. Haynes has elevated attention to inclusive excellence as an institutional priority.
In this role, he leads a comprehensive effort to establish UCI as a campus community and UC as a Minority Thriving University where all expect equity, support diversity, practice inclusion and honor free speech.
Since 2006, he has led a team that has contributed to our steady growth in the diversity of the professoriate, expanded work-life integration resources, and augmented career advising in support of faculty retention and advancement.
Among his principal publications include: Imperial Medicine: Patrick Manson and the Conquest of Tropical Disease (Pennsylvania, 2001), and Fit to Practice: Empire, Race, Gender, and the Making of British Medicine (Rochester, 2017).
