Lunch with Leadership has gone virtual! This event provides staff members the opportunity to engage in casual conversation with various UCI leaders. Join us for a virtual lunch featuring Lorelei Tanji, University Librarian.

Bio: Lorelei Tanji is the university librarian in charge of UCI Libraries—the largest research library in Orange County, and an important gateway to knowledge for the campus and the community.

Lorelei oversees the strategic vision, mission, and goals for these four learning facilities:

  • Jack Langson Library

  • Science Library

  • Forest J. Grunigen Medical Library

  • Gateway Study Center

She works with a highly skilled team of library employees that support world-class research, teaching, patient care, and student success through a wide range of library services and collections—such as the popular 24/7 online reference service, and access to over 3.9 million volumes and a myriad of electronic resources (ejournals, ebooks, and databases).

Lorelei is a member of the UC Council of University Librarians (CoUL; pronounced “cool”), and served as its chair from 2013-2016.  She is an active member of the Association for Research Libraries (ARL)—currently chair of the Member Engagement & Outreach Committee, and a past member of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Always keen to learn new perspectives, she is the Past Chair of the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance (PRRLA)–40+ academic research libraries from around the Pacific Rim with shared interests in improving access to scholarly resources.
